We are a Reformed Baptist Church in Taylorsville, North Carolina. Planted in September of 2011. On September 11, 2011, Axis Church of Taylorsville (the name at that time) held its first worship service in the lunch room of East Alexander Middle School. We continued to meet at the school until the end of 2011. In 2012, the opportunity opened up for us to meet in a local coffee shop in town, owned and operated by the lead pastor of Axis Church in Hickory.
We met in the coffee shop for almost a year until another opportunity arose. We were offered to use the space that was previously used as the coffee shop for our own as the coffee shop moved out. We took advantage of the opportunity and we are still meeting in that same building right on Main Street in downtown Taylorsville.
We believe that everything that the church does when gathered should be governed by scripture and centered around scripture. We are a people under the Lordship of Christ and we believe Christ rules over His church through His Word. When we gather as a church on Sunday, we like to read scripture, sing scripture, preach scripture, and pray scripture. We try not to get bogged down in chasing the latest fad or allowing culture to dictate how we worship God in His church. We look only to God’s Word to regulate our worship. We don’t do anything that hasn’t been done before.
At Covenant Bible Church, which has been the name since the beginning of 2017, we want everything we say and do to be motivated by, saturated in, and pointing others to the gospel of Jesus Christ. A church that does not have this gospel as its focus has no part in Christ’s bride. Therefore, we want to make very clear what the gospel is as often as we can.
